Start your journey with a pick-up from your location in Amman, then head to explore some of Jordan’s most iconic historical treasures in one unforgettable day.
Your tour begins at the Amman Citadel, perched on the highest hill in the city, Jebel Al Qala’a (850m above sea level). This ancient site, known as Rabbath-Ammon, has been occupied since the Bronze Age and is surrounded by a 1700m-long wall rebuilt during multiple eras — Bronze, Iron, Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad. Key highlights include the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace.
Continue to the Roman Theater, the most impressive remnant of Roman Philadelphia, magnificently restored and considered one of Amman’s top attractions.
From there, drive north to Jerash, Jordan’s largest and most well-preserved Greco-Roman city. Walk along its colonnaded streets, explore grand temples, theatres, and ceremonial gates, and immerse yourself in the grandeur of this ancient imperial center.
Finally, visit the iconic Ajloun Castle, built between 1184 and 1188 by Saladin’s nephew, ‘Izz ad-Din Usama bin Munqidh. Located atop Mount ‘Auf (1250m), the fortress overlooks the Jordan Valley and played a vital role in defending the region against Crusader incursions.
End the day with a comfortable drive back to Amman.
